Data Deletion

How vendors and end customers can request that OttoBiz delete the personal data we hold.

You have the right to ask OttoBiz to delete the personal data we hold about you. This page explains the three concrete paths to do that, depending on whether you are an OttoBiz vendor, an end customer who messaged a vendor, or a developer-platform reviewer looking for our deletion mechanism.

1. Vendors — delete your account in-app

The fastest way to remove your data is from inside OttoBiz:

  • Sign in and go to Settings → Account.
  • Click Delete account, type your registered email to confirm, and submit.
  • Your account enters a 30-day grace window. During this window you can sign back in and click Cancel deletion to undo the request.
  • After the grace window expires, we purge your account data within a further 30 days, except for records we are legally required to retain (e.g. tax invoices, fraud evidence). Retained records are kept only for as long as the law requires and are not used for any other purpose.

You can also request a copy of your data before deleting from Settings → Account → Export my data. We email the export to your registered address within 30 days.

2. Vendors — delete by email

If you cannot sign in, send an email to privacy@ottobiz.net from the address registered on your OttoBiz account with the subject line DELETE. Please include the business name on the account so we can locate it. We confirm receipt and complete deletion within 30 days.

3. End customers — people who messaged a vendor

If you are a customer who chatted with a business that uses OttoBiz, the vendor is the controller of that conversation. You have two options:

  • Contact the vendor directly — most data deletion requests are fastest when the vendor purges your customer record on their side.
  • Email us at privacy@ottobiz.net with the WhatsApp or Instagram identifier you used and the name of the business you messaged. We will work with the vendor to remove your data and confirm completion within 30 days.

What we delete

  • Vendor profile, business information, and team members.
  • Connected channel tokens (WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger), which we revoke with Meta.
  • Customer conversation history, contact records, and any media stored on your behalf.
  • Inventory, partner network, and outbound task records.
  • Operational logs and agent traces tied to your account, beyond our standard retention window.

What we keep, and why

  • Invoices and other accounting records that we are required by tax law to retain.
  • Fraud and abuse signals where we have a legitimate interest in preventing repeat misuse of the platform.
  • Aggregated, de-identified analytics that no longer identify any individual.
